Waveformers: Sound Made Visible
for Musikarbeiter
Magic in a Box: From Sketch to Production
How do you make sound visible? Entrepreneur Walther from Musikarbeiter came to me with this fascinating question, along with sketches and prototypes of his sound modules. These modules are used in workshops to spark children’s curiosity about sound—what it is, how it behaves, and what it can do.
Building on his vision, I designed sleek enclosures with a retro touch, ensuring the electronics remain fully visible. The design is optimized for CNC production, combining different techniques: laser-cut acrylic with precise engravings, CNC-cut MDF with wood veneer, and a finishing process that required a touch of craftsmanship. Each module is designed as a DIY kit, making assembly part of the experience.
This project challenged me to bring together everything I know—design, visualization, and production—and the result speaks for itself. A truly rewarding collaboration that I’m proud to have been part of!
